Production Designer - Arthur Max
I so rarely work anymore on films that use this much moulding. Can be so expensive! But this film was one, full, 4-story brown story house, built entirely on stage. This included the front facade, plus the street in front and the houses across that street - PLUS - the back facade, back yard, and the facades of the houses facing it! Cars could drive up in front of the house. When you were inside the set, and all of the proper lighting was on, you felt like you were really in the home in New York City. On top of that, SPFX built and rigged the set’s working elevator, and had the stage rigged for rain…! It was a very impressive set! We were able to do all of this as it was really the ONLY set in the film.
For shooting and SPFX reasons, the Panic Room itself was built 3 separate times, each serving different purposes.
Some of my favorite detail drawings are from this film.
